After my long period of unemployment, I forgot what it was like to have a real weekend.  That blessed Friday when you sit in a bar and know that tomorrow you don’t have to wake up or rush to catch a subway or do anything at all.  Because I got my first paycheck on Friday I reintroduced alcohol to my life, despite the continuing detox, when I went out with K, her boyfriend and some other people we went to high school with.  Fun, nostalgic times. 

Saturday I only left bed to buy an array of fruit, including the beautiful above seen strawberries.  I then spent the entire day in bed eating said fruit and watching movies on my computer.  And of course, napping. 

Sunday, my parents came in and we had brunch at Anella in Greenpoint.  I’ve had a food crush on Anella for a really long time.  However, to be honest, it was only OK.  First of all, the coffee was probably the worst coffee I’ve ever had.  And this is coming from someone who drinks rec room coffee all day.  It tasted like watered down insta-coffee.  I got the vegetable hash without the poached egg, which was good if your looking for a low-cal, healthy brunch.  My mom got the french toast and my dad got the egg biscuit (which was Todd the managers recommendation) - both dishes got really poor reviews from both of them.  Don’t get me wrong - sometimes we have bad experiences and great restaurants.  One day I’ll give them a second chance, if only to try the bacon frittata.
