It’s that time of year again - January Detox. It feels like only yesterday I was tumbling about waking up at 6, going to Smith’s gym, showering there and then off to Yiddish class in the snow with my pre-packed detox food.
This year, I had to do something a little more simple as I didn’t have the time or energy for last years extremist dip. First of all, I already wake up at 6 to get ready for work, so I haven’t been going to the gym. However, I would like to ease myself into that. This years detox started Friday with 3 days of nothing but liquids, followed by the past 3 days - nothing but liquids and fruit. Starting tomorrow, I add raw vegetables and made this apple broccoli salad to bring to work tomorrow to kick it off right. Not gonna lie - all I can think about it the roasted brussel sprouts over at Putnam’s. That’s really all I want. Maybe paired with a steak and some wine, but after that, I’m good.
Also this year, I’m going to start setting weekly goals. I read an article in SHAPE this month where some model said her trick is she sets goals for herself and if she accomplishes them, she buys herself something special, like a designer purse. Unfortunately, as I am rigorously saving to put down money on an apartment, I can’t really afford to bribe myself this week. But that’s the plan for the future.
This weeks goals were:
- Wake up every morning in time to shower before work (already failed)
- Stick to Detox diet (going super well)
