I woke up yesterday morning in an unfamiliar bed feeling awful. Fortunately, I was in Queens, so I had a lot of time in which to drink coconut water and walk it off.
The night before, I had gone at a date. We went to the Rye House in Union Square. I thought it was going to be a sleepy little whisky joint, but it was more like a yuppie-casual brewery. When the girl got there, I told her we were getting one of every cocktail on their fancy list and trying them. They made seriously good cocktails there and the bartenders seemed to think we were funny enough that they came from around the bar and did a shot with us. So, now I can definitively make a list:
THE 3 BEST “RYE HOUSE” COCKTAILS
- Flip Side - it was like a heavily alcoholic creamed candy
- Whichever one had the bacon infused rum in it. Or was it bourbon? Bacon infused alcohol
- The Sazerac - like a time machine from wherever you are now to a future in which you are very drunk
